MEET OUR NEW THERAPISTS
Kate Rosa joined our staff recently as a licensed massage therapist, and has been a huge asset to Bodyworx since she arrived. Her go to technique for solving major issues that cannot be accomplished with standard massage techniques is her “cupping” that she applies during a massage. Cupping is a massage technique that has the same effect as a deep tissue massage with even faster results. A suction cup is placed on a tight area like the shoulders, low back, legs/IT bands. It pulls the “old” blood and lactic acid up to the surface allowing for blood flow and flushing out the area. If you check out our earlier blog, you can learn much more on “cupping”, and the benefits you can achieve from this therapy.
Kate moved here in March of 2017 from Omaha, Nebraska. She has been married to her husband Giovanni, a Federal Police Officer, for seven years. She has two babies – a Labrador Retriever, Maggie, and an English Mastiff, Sally. Clearly she has a passion for little pups! And when she is not working, you can catch her walking anywhere and everywhere to get her daily count of steps in on her fitbit! Even if it is circles or down the hallway at the spa! If you haven’t yet met Kate, we hope that you will soon.
Tamar Rivas also recently joined our staff as a massage therapist, and has been a fitness instructor and personal trainer for 14 years. Bodywork is her passion, and her goal is to have her clients feel and move better so that the quality of their life improves.
Her love of health lead her to pursue and expand her knowledge of the human body, and thus become a licensed massage therapist. She is certified in Swedish, deep tissue, sports massage, hot stone, hydrotherapy, pregnancy, oncology, posture and gait assessment, and proprioceptive neuromuscular facilitation. She incorporates the PNF stretching into many of her massages as it helps her clients learn how to stretch on their own, and help themselves with problems that can be alleviated by learning simple body mechanics.
She is married to a Montgomery County Firefighter, and has three daughters – all of whom she home schools. She has two little dogs, Little Foot and Cutie Pie. (Guess which one is the 100 pound Mastiff?)…..When she is not homeschooling, she is making her own essential oils, exercising, or traveling the U.S. in her new RV she just purchased. Her goal is to hit all 50 states eventually! For all you avid exercisers, come see Tamar! She will help you work out whatever injury you are dealing with so that you can get down to the business of being fit!
